Alice is 1 Month Old

Alice's personality

a little perspective on Alice's relative size to the chair
Alice weighed 9 pounds, 8 ounces at her one month checkup yesterday. I'm amazed at how much we can love this little girl who we've known such a short time. She has her moments of fussiness, but generally she's a great baby. We're so glad she's in our family!

Poppy, Gigi & Aunt Abby visit

Mark's parents and sister came to meet sweet Alice this weekend. We were able to enjoy a trolley tour to see the city and a fun night of Wii Sports competition at home.  Thanks for making the trip!

Ted & Rachel's wedding

Our friends Rachel & Ted got married Saturday at a beautiful church in Back Bay. The ceremony really showed how God created marriages to be. Then we went to the Harvard Club of Boston (pictured above) for great food, celebration and dancing. Alice officially crashed the wedding reception and was a great little party guest.

Friday Photos

We survived the week without help. Alice's fussy time happens just before Mark gets home and he must think she's a pest all day, which she is not. I'm grateful for Mylicon to stop the bubbles in her tummy. Our church has been so wonderful to send meals to us. It's true kindness that these folks I don't know offer their time to make and deliver delicious food for Mark and I.

I'm glad to see that Alice isn't interested in boys yet :)

On our own with Alice

Beautiful roses from Mark's parents:

Today was our first day without family here to help. Yesterday felt a little rough as I wondered how we could do this on our own, when will we see family again, and insecurities that Alice isn't feeding quite like I'm told she should. Mark and I took Alice to the pediatrician today and she's gaining weight really well. I was so relieved and encouraged to hear that I don't need to set an alarm to wake her at night for feedings. She let us go for 4-5 hours last night between eating, which makes us get some real sleep. I'm so thankful. Mark must be right-- we really can do this!

Grandaddy and Alice napping, so funny--

My sister Mary Beth spent the holiday weekend with us. She was so gracious to make meals, teach me tricks to infant care, and encourage us. She's vying for "favorite Aunt" and I'm so glad she was here!! Her husband, David, was pretty cool to keep Caroline for the weekend so MB could have some sister time. What a treat.

Alice's First Week Adventures

Alice's first bath:

Mark's 33rd Birthday dinner at Hungry Mother Restaurant:
Mark's birthday was Friday and we had a little dinner party with my parents at a delicious Southern restaurant here in Cambridge. Alice was a trooper, we all enjoyed the meal and peppermint cheesecake at home for dessert. Mark is really in love with our girl and thought that was his only birthday present :). I'm glad his cordless drill was also a hit.
