My dad came into town and treated us to the circus. I'm sad to see an era of my life end as the circus comes to a close next month. We were so impressed by the ice skaters on stilts, lions, tight rope walkers from "space", acrobats in suspended balls, and trapeze swingers. We had smiles plastered on our faces the entire time. Grandaddy took my nieces in Greenville and said our show was even better. It was cool to see him enjoy it so much with us!
On our way back from time in Boston we parked at 93rd and Central Park West in NYC. We walked all the way to Bryant Park, through Central Park, stopping at statues and playgrounds, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and ice cream trucks. Those 50 blocks showed the kids most of what they pictured about the city, except the Statue of Liberty!

Mark and I enjoyed introducing Alice and Sawyer to Alice's birthplace, Boston. The T train, Boston Common, Boston Public Library, Quincy Market food stalls, Boston Harbor Cruise, Trolley Tour, picnics and parks with our friends, Christina's Ice Cream, and Harvard Square were the highlights of our whirlwind two day tour.

Alice and Sawyer performed in Elijah the Musical at church two weeks ago. They've been singing the songs about the prophet Elijah, Jezebel, Baal, Obadiah. and "Send Your Fire Down" for months. Alice got to act as a raven and feed Elijah in the wilderness. She hopped around happily for days with joy at being selected. It's fun to hear the kids sing their parts, echo, memorizing parts and hearing their sweet voices.
Elementary School starts at 9:20 am. Alice had extra time one morning this week and chose to take Baby Cara and rag doll Alice out for a picnic and stroll on our sidewalk. She is so sweet!
We filled the house with about three dozen parents and kids to visit, eat and run around on my birthday. It was really a fun occasion to have the group of my playground mom friends over. Also great, Mark got me a table I've wanted from West Elm for over a year! It's here and I'm thrilled we can now easily seat 8-10 people. . .so come on over for brunch, Sunday lunch or dinner.
Will proposed we all meet, sent a poll of places and dates, and we got to see each other in New Orleans. Our time sounded short but our days were full of fun.
Alice is playing her first season of soccer this year. She's got a great coach and friend from school on her team. Alice is glad to be out on the field and learning the game.
Sawyer's got an amazing coach, his dad! Mark's herding 4 and 5 year old cats at practice and they're having fun. Soccer has incredible foot skills and loves to attack then score.
I'm a little behind on the blog posts but didn't want to skip Sawyer turning 5! He had a super Sawyer party with the boys from his class, and a couple girls "to let Alice have a friend". He chose a chocolate cake with peanut butter layer and Pokeball decoration for the icing. They ran up and down the stairs and played like wild 5 year olds, totally fun for them all.
