Neighborhood Entertainment

Last week four bucket trucks trimmed trees within sight of our house ALL day. While sitting with the kids on the sidewalk for 30+ minutes with snack cups of Cheerios watching the men work I realized this was outside what I pictured as a stay at home mom yet it was the perfect morning for both kids.

Today the excitement grew when cement mixers and bulldozers came in to repair uneven sidewalks. The bulldozer driver pulled over for the kids to climb on out of his real kindness. They were a bit intimidated but enjoy the activity. Another fun neighborhood development is a new family we've befriended that each of us really likes to be with, the kids and moms (hoping the husbands do to when we are all together!).

Sawyer is 18 months

We took Sawyer to his 18 month check up and he's doing great. He's up to about 10 words, less tummy trouble after eating, still has a very limited variety of foods but enjoys his daily vitamin, plays and runs outside, loves trains and balls and dogs, climbs all over, shouts NO frequently and easily gives a sweet smile to others.
I always love stats: 33.3" tall (76%),
27lb 1oz (65%),
 49.5cm head circumference (90%)

Sawyer got a train table in his room this weekend and I've never seen him commit a full 1.5 hours to anything in his life until now. He played, climbed, built, and said "guuuu guuuun" all afternoon.

Alice's First Preschool Day

Alice is thrilled to join the "big kids" at Christ Memorial Preschool this year. Her teacher is Mrs. Lewin, just like our friend Hannah two years ago. She now wishes every day was Tuesday or Thursday!

When asked why preschool I replied, "To learn your shapes, colors, and letters." Alice replied, "I already know that." So I said, "It's also to teach you sharing, taking turns, waiting patiently and obeying." Alice scrunched her brow then said, "Oooooh."

Sawyer meeting Mama Ann

The first place person we visited in Alabama was my dad's mom, Mama Ann. Sawyer had not had the chance to meet Mama Ann and I wanted that changed first thing! I have so many fun memories with Mama Ann in them and delighted to see her enjoy her great grandkids. Mama Ann remembers very little but her attitude is joyful and it was good to be with her.

Auburn revisited two ways

Two weeks ago I flew to Alabama with the kids and left them with my parents for their first nights away from their parents. I really enjoyed a girls getaway weekend with girls from my Alpha Gam pledge class. God's done amazing things in and through these girls, it was so encouraging. We had great food, lots of lounging time by the pool at Ross Bridge Resort and a little shopping. I'm so glad I made the trip!

Last week Alice and Sawyer made their first trip to see Auburn University. The campus has added at least 30 buildings since I was there 12 years ago. I enjoy where we are but enjoy looking back at fun times and places too.
