Skiing at Wachusetts, MA

hitting the slopes

Mark and I joined friends Jason & Rachel at Wachusetts Mountain about 50 miles outside of Boston for a little fun on the slopes Saturday. The three of them went to UF together and reconnected when we moved up here this summer. Rachel's horror stories of driving in snow were a major catalyst towards the purchase of our CRV, which we love! I love skiing and wish i could go every single day. It was a great break from boxes and we enjoyed the company.

Webster Avenue

We're getting settled and think you deserve a little glimpse of our new place. I found the new curtains at Bed Bath & Beyond for only $7.50/each. Even Mark couldn't turn that down! The light is amazing and there's not another building as tall as ours in front our back. We've got a great view of the park and treetops. The bedrooms are coming along slowly but surely. More to come. . .

Moving across the River

We had the fortunate opportunity to live in the best location of all of Boston for 8 months. Known for its historic turn-of-the-century brownstone architecture, Back Bay is thought of as the best neighborhood of all of Boston. And we had the fortunate opportunity to live on the best street - Marlborough Street. We will miss our apartment - vintage crown moldings, 10' ceilings and all. It was rough around the edges but we had more space than most folks in Back Bay and we were one street off of Mass. Ave and Commonwealth - just across the bridge from MIT. We will miss it. But I think Jackson is going to enjoy a little more quiet in Cambridge. And being in Cambridge will bring back memories of my time in Gainesville, FL - the daily war protests, the Vietnam vet in daisy duke shorts on roller skates flying his American flag, and the gritty holes-in-the-wall bars - a la Burrito Brothers and the Purple Porpoise :) Ahhhh....what a beautiful country we live in. I am already looking forward to a Bass Ale at the Thirsty Scholar. I have this crazy attraction for college towns - not a better representation of democracy that what you will find in college towns all across America. And no better one to be in than in Cambridge. We'll see you on the other side of the river!

quick update

Today our chiropractor essentially said that we're crazy to try and move things up three flights of stairs without hiring a mover. I agree. Movers come Sunday to make our life/move easier.

Comcast can't transfer our home phone number since we're moving to a new city. Did i mention it's only 1.3 miles from our current location? We're going to have only cell phones starting Sunday. I look forward to posting pictures next week. It should look really great once we get settled and set up.

Holmes (new) Sweet Home

I'm grateful to say we've found a new place to live in Cambridge. Why in the world am I glad to be moving? I hate to move, but i love getting a:
1. dishwasher
2. washing machine
3. jacuzzi tub
4. gas stove
5. second bedroom (come visit!)
6. marble countertops
7. patio
8. view of the park
9. free neighborhood parking
10. better commute for my husband
11. skylight in the den
12. easy accessibility for Jackson to play --see #8

If you've got muscles and you're in the neighborhood we need you on Saturday!! We're moving big stuff during the day and taking the next week+ (hopefully less) to move over the books, closets, wall hangings, etc.

good times in San Francisco

Wild Man and his new trick

The kids love story time and yes, those PJs will be for sale sometime soon from Jenny's line.

Dawn in San Francisco from the corporate apartment window.

Crissy Field Sunday picnic--I love the warmth and beauty of SF!!

Details worth moving for. . .built-ins, butler's pantry, beautiful hardwoods, a playroom for the kids. Did you already hear that Mark and I have to move by the end of the month because our building sold? Ugh. If only we could find something as amazing as this place of Will & Jen's. . .inventory is low in Boston and prices aren't. We'd love a little prayer!

Bruno the big dog lives next door. Annie and William have almost broken down their daddy to get their own. Life is full of surprises! I love Jackson so hopefully Will will love a Stegall dog in the future.

sorry it's sideways. . .Grand Marnier souffle at Cafe Jacqueline with Jenny.
This might've been my favorite part of the trip: corn, Gruyere & ginger dinner souffle; nice wine; dessert souffle; and hours of undivided conversation with my good friend and sister-in-law.
