Festival Weekend in Charleston

Friday afternoon in Hampton Park was the Cooper River Bridge Run Kids Fest. It was an unexpected festival of free fun: face painting, Disney characters, balloon animals, horse rides, donuts, hot dogs, obstacle course, toy giveaways, and a variety of jump castles. We're so glad friend Jack asked us to meet them there.
"mini" C-17

Sawyer started to say "Cheese", then paused and said "No, apple"

they did this at least a dozen times in a row and wanted more!

our first detailed face painting. Alice was especially awed by being so "beautiful".

Alice told me that Alice & Ana were on vacation from Disney to Charleston for the weekend.

Saturday morning

Greenville weekend with cousins

Last weekend we visited the Elys and enjoyed the Children's Museum, delightful weather, cousin time and exploring downtown. David gave Mary Beth and I an evening away and it was great; great food at Tupelo Honey, charming downtown, good conversation and fun time together.

M&Em Flooring 2.0

Mark and I did it again! I ripped out the old stained carpet just weeks after we moved in. Our house has looked like a "project" for many months. Together, Mark and I stained the treads and painted the risers. It's so nice to walk in the front door now and see them complete! Mark went a step beyond and removed the popcorn ceiling and painted it fresh white. He also painted the walls a soothing Sea Salt color. It looks so good and I'm proud of how well his hours on the ladder turned out!
Our stairs before were stained carpet and TERRIBLE!

They're now 3 and 4!

Sawyer's done especially well at bilingual preschool this past week. He still loves to be with his Mama and even tries to snuggle at night to fall asleep. It's cutest when he sleeps with Alice in her bed! He plays well by himself with trains, cars, planes, stickers for long stretches of time. I never hear him ask for a snack or food--just juice. Don't forget he "lubs" ice cream. . . Potty training is going nowhere. EVERY afternoon, and many mornings, he asks for a show; Thomas the Train, Dinosaur Train, Backyardigans, Little Einsteins or Dora. Sawyer and I try to ride bikes on nice weather days after Alice goes to school. He goes into the garage to use the baseball tee and hit. In recent months he's started choosing his own books to read instead of just listening to Alice's stories. Building toys continue to be fun for him; Magformers, Duplo Legos, Brio train sets, etc. Sawyer is sweet, slightly hesitant in new settings, and we adore our big boy.

I try to take cute pictures the week of Alice's birthday and Sawyer's. Yesterday the light was great so we walked to the nearby marsh and took pictures on the dock. Sawyer refuses to wear one piece outfits, so we did the best we could with his coordinating top :).

Happy 3rd Birthday Sawyer!

Sawyer made invitations, helped make peanut butter icing, added sprinkles and chocolate drizzle, chose juice boxes and Mickey Mouse party favors for his party on Saturday. Four older neighborhood kids and six friends from Alice's preschool came to celebrate by playing outside and eating cake. Sawyer got great train toys, outside gadgets and a few sticker sets.
