What about the dog?

Jackson spent the Christmas holiday week at Camp Bow Wow. We learned that he likes to hang out in the snow. He went on hunger strike to protest being left behind. He's home now and we'll  work on fattening him up. He's enjoying the new ball Annie gave him for Christmas. Thanks!

JEB & Caroline's Baptisms

JEB & Caroline were baptized at my parent's church in Gadsden. It was great to have all the family together and lunch by Jenny. I got to be her sous chef and learn a few tricks for my own kitchen. It was a great time to enjoy all the new babies in the Stegall fam.

Stegall Skating Spectacular

One of my favorite traditions at Christmas is ice skating with my Stegall cousins. I love skating from one cousin to another and catching up, showing off our newest twirl, or teaching the newest addition to our growing family.

Holmes family Christmas

Mark's family Christmas in Atlanta
We had good food, fun time with games & presents, and much-needed hang out time.

William loves his trucks.

I think Mark's going to win this game every time we play. It's Gatoropoly!

Commonwealth Avenue at Christmas time

It's cold in Kansas

This was my first time in Kansas. I read a book about the Dust Bowl last year and appreciated the flat lands after driving a few hours along I-70 West. It's pretty but seems lonely out there.

Can you read what my rental car said? Yep, it was 7 degrees. It was ZERO when I landed. I drove in the snow for the first time on American soil. (In Austria I drove an old Volvo wagon at HP Plut's farm. . .I love that place.) I survived 4" and only had to ask for assistance once when stuck in a parking spot with spinning wheels.

I liked the homes in the Little Apple (Manhattan, KS). This was taken while driving.

Kansas State University uses a beautiful white stone on campus.

Click & Clack

We found Click & Clack's lawyers' office in Harvard Square. This one's for you, Daddy :). Tune in to NPR on Saturday mornings for good radio with Car Talk.

5 and counting. . .

Mark and I are counting the days until we fly South for Christmas. It'll be a time with lots of family and friends, good food, and fun times celebrating Jesus' birthday. We look forward to seeing many of you very soon and meeting some of you for the first time--Caroline, JEB, & Thacker.

I'll be in Manhattan, Kansas this Monday through Wednesday. I don't know anything about the town, except they have Agfa x-ray equipment and I'm their teacher. I'll be in the veterinary school at Kansas State. If you know of something I should see in the town please comment.

Merry Christmas!

Breakers House in Newport, RI

Mark and I braved the snowy conditions to visit Breakers, summer home of Cornelius Vanderbilt in Newport, Rhode Island. It reminds me of a scaled back version of the Biltmore Estate but on the ocean. The craftsmanship, details, and elaborate architecture make the house amazing not only in the Guilded Age of its youth.

Christmas in the City

This wreath is on the gates going into the Public Garden. I can't wait to show you snowy and night time pictures here!

This wreath was split in half to accommodate both doors. Very clever!
