Fun friends, full heart

friend Meredith now owns "our" house!

Moving isn't easy for me. It seems I should be good at it all after so much practice but the packing, sorting, purging, leaving, starting again and everything is still a lot for me to do or bear. I'm excited about where we're moving but sad to leave the good things here. I decided to e-vite (not my norm!) about 15 friends to meet for dinner or drinks before I move. They came!! I was reminded of the sweet friendships at church, MOPS, preschool and more. I left that night feeling encouraged by God's provision in so many areas.

Mother's Day with Mimi & Alice

Alice and I went to visit Mimi and Grandaddy for Mother's Day. My sweet husband closed on our house and painted the kids' rooms that weekend. Sawyer stayed in Atlanta and chased cousin William to different ballparks both days and loved his time with them.

Mimi treated us and the Squires girls to a fancy lunch in Mountain Brook. We joined cousins at the Briarwood Ballet, then all got together for dinner outside at the Preserve at Moss Rock. Sunday morning Alice and I were at Publix by 6:15 AM to buy flowers, cog au vin ingredients for lunch, and breakfast goodies. Mimi was surprised to see a little feast when she woke up and we were delighted that she was able to go to church with us.

Mimi's 6 weeks check on new treatment was just a few days ago. She's not feeling well, but the tumors were stable to mildly smaller and that was good news. She'll continue to evaluate every six weeks and continue if there's success. I'm proud of my Mama for many things and appreciate her every day.

Sawyer's 4-year old insights

on butterfly life cycle:
"first you have a caterpillar, then you have a fly, then a butterfly"

passing a stretch limousine:
"It must take a lot of lemons to make a lemon-zine"

on our  move:
"Can we take all our stuff with us this time?" (remembering our disaster move to SC!)

on serving sizes at breakfast (reflecting his Spanish-speaking school days):
"I want GRANDE bacon, Mama"

on wanting a baby:
S: Mama, when we move to Virginia can we have a baby? We have a extra room for it.
me: Why do you want a baby?
S: so I can hold it
me: but they grow, buddy
S: Oh, that's okay, actually. Then I can play with him.

(on the ride home from school)
S: Mama, I want a baby in our family. Will you pray for it now?
me: Uh, okay. I pray, but don't ask for a baby--just thanking God for making us, etc. Amen.
S: So now do you have a baby in your belly?
